The opening of the Pharmaceutical Career Rehabilitation Program: Prof. Dr. Nasir Abdul-Latif, the University Vice President for Academic Affairs, has opened the celebration of launching the Pharmaceutical Career Rehabilitation Program, a precedent that is considered the first of its kind. The program was set by the Faculty of Pharmacy in collaboration with the Centre for Studies, Consultation and Community Service, at The Applied Science Private University.

 The opening of the Pharmaceutical Career Rehabilitation Program: Prof. Dr. Nasir Abdul-Latif, the University Vice President for Academic Affairs, has opened the celebration of launching the Pharmaceutical Career Rehabilitation Program, a precedent that is considered the first of its kind. The program was set by the Faculty of Pharmacy in collaboration with the Centre for Studies, Consultation and Community Service, at The Applied Science Private University. The celebration was attended by the Dean of Scientific Research and Higher Studies Prof. Dr. Misbah Aqel, the chief of Jordanian Pharmaceutical Association Dr. Ahmad Issa, the Head of Registration Section at Food and Drug Administration Dr. Wisal Al-Haqiesh, The Head of Registration at Hikma Pharmaceuticals Company Dr. Fadwa Al-Amir, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Dr. Iman Bashiti, and a number of faculty members. 

 

The opening started by the Faculty Dean’s speech followed by watching a video, prepared by the Faculty students, demonstrating the aims of workshops and courses gained by the Career Rehabilitation Program. This was followed by speeches presented by the Chief of Pharmaceutical Association, the representative of Food and Drug Administration, and the representative of Hikma Pharmaceuticals Company. Following, shields of honor were offeredto the participants in the workshop.

 

In her speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Iman Bashiti, expressed her pride in holding the first workshop, within the Career Rehabilitation Program, in collaboration with the University Center for Studies, referring that there will be, in future, numerous workshops for the students of pharmacy. Furthermore, Dr. Bashiti said that the Pharmaceutical Career Rehabilitation Program shall include workshops and training courses, which cast academic science on the reality of the profession. Such workshops and courses shall be presented by experts, who are specialized in the field, from within and outside the University, and shall cover all potential scopes of work a pharmacist might work in. In addition, there shall be workshop sconcerned with human development, and others concerned with teaching the student how to construct curriculum vitae and perform a successful work interview.

 

The Pharmaceutical Career Rehabilitation Program aims at making the student aware of the nature of work - market and the job opportunities available for him upon graduation, in order to guide him to choose the future job according to his inclinations and abilities while still studying, besides training and preparing the student to start work showing efficiency and distinction from day one of employment. Thus, the student avoids the frustration of training and is saved from being under paid as a new graduate, the matter that will reflect the good reputation of our students and the interest of employers to employ them.

 

Such workshops shall be presented by specialists and experts from outside the University, beside our competent faculty members.

 

The first workshop in this program was held, under the title ‘Drug Registration in Jordan’, on Saturday 7 / 3 / 2015. The attendance of the event, whether by the University students, its graduates, or outside guests was distinguishable. It was presented by the Head of Registration at Food and Drug Administration Dr. Wisal Al-Haqiesh, the Head of Registration at Hikma Pharmaceuticals Company Dr. Fadwa Al-Amir, the Assistant Prof. of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Dr. Firas Al-Hajji, and the Assistant Prof. of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Drug Discovery at the University, Dr. Afaf al-Naddaf.​
